SPRING CLEANING : How hypnosis and breathwork can help you get out of a funk.

It’s April, Spring is here and I know you are busy so I’m going to get right to the point: It’s time to clear things out.

I want to share with you how you can instantly shift your energy from within, no matter what kind of a low mood you are in.

In this age of constant information being streamed to us, we have forgotten how brilliant our natural bodies and our healing capabilities are.

I’ve helped hundreds of clients with anxiety, low self-esteem and lack of self worth. It’s always because the brain has been keeping them in the past and they are caught in a negative-thinking loop pattern.

I use a variety of exercises with my clients to connect them to their body and I use hypnosis - (which is just meditation with goals)—to interrupt the old neural network in the brain.

I want you to try one of these exercises yourself…. It’s a 3 step process to instantly give yourself an overall boost to revitalize the energy in the body and change old imprints of a funk or bad mood. If we all did this as soon as we start to notice the blues or early days of depression, we would give our mind and body the opportunity to spiral up instead of solidifying patterns that are much harder to release.

Try it out now as you are reading it with your eyes open. You will embody the exercise this way and then try it again with eyes closed.

1. LOCATE THE FEELING

Notice in your body where you are experiencing the most heaviness or uncomfortable sensation. Close your eyes and let yourself acknowledge that there is something about this feeling that is also trying to protect you or is trying to alert you to something. It may have an underlying positive intention even though it appears uncomfortable. Be curious what it may be. Have compassion for yourself and also recognize that by being the observer, you are already shifting outside of it and associating out of it. You’ve already started the process.

2. MAKE A VISUAL OF IT

What’s the color, the size, the exact location? Now take a deep belly breath in and start to exhale the visual image of it out of your body using your creative imagination. It can turn into smoke, mist and transform and dissipate through your exhale any way you prefer. With every breath see it slowly shrinking, disappearing, the color changing, etc. Keep doing this until you have exhaled it out.

3. REPLACE THE ENERGY

Now immediately connect to someone that you love, and let your body feel those emotions of warmth and connection. Now focus on slow, gentle, deep, long inhales. Breathe in the light of happiness and connection into the same energetic space from where you released. Note the color of this light that your subconscious mind chooses. It will automatically present to you a soothing color that represents love and connection. You can finish the exercise with gratitude to your faith, a higher power, your spirit guides or simply Nature for providing you with this amazing body that gives you life force energy.

Every time we engage in this simple 3-5 minute process, we are re-wiring the way neurons connect in our body and telling our deeper subconscious mind, “No—not today!”

Sometimes I use this statement and when I ‘feel the funk’.  I command “No not today!” - I speak it out aloud and start the exercise of acknowledging the feeling, seeing it as a dark cloud and allow myself to sit with it and what it might be telling me or teaching me before breathing it out of my body.  It’s important not to bypass what the alert is about as it points us to the roots of the problem so we can dissolve it and feel much lighter longterm.
